SEPTEMBER

This month has been going by like crazy! I can't believe this weekend is already October! I guess that is what happens when you stay busy :)

So we took some time to have a family night the other night and went to a local festival in Westland. It was Shade's first time on a roller coaster and other rides (he is already tall enough!). And even though you could see the fear on his face as the ride went down a hill, he always replaced that with a big smile on the way back up - he loved it! So after we spent money on tickets, a lot of the rides didn't even take them, so he got to ride some of them for free, and we ended up selling some of our tickets back. His favorite ride was the crocodile roller coaster. He also liked the big bouncy toy with a slide in it and petting the baby goats. At the end, he didn't want to leave. He wanted to try all of the games where you pay to play (they don't take tickets) and never really win anything. But he got over it quickly when we went down the street to get a slurpee and he told us thanks for letting him ride on the rides and have fun (without us prompting him to). Now that's what makes it worth going!

In other news, Kellen went on a bike ride with his scout group. He ended up trading his nice bike for one of the kid's older bikes and said it felt like he was riding a tricycle. He demonstrated what he meant for me:

And now Shade likes to play pretend sword fight (thanks, Peter Pan). So the other day he got two swords - one for himself and one for Kellen to fight with - and this was the result:

I suppose he just wanted to even the score a bit...

Shade is so much fun! He still gets excited when he builds/makes something and he just has to share it with us. He wanted me to take a picture of his "house" so we can show daddy when he gets home:

And I know that having an apartment means I can't plant my garden outside, but I have to say, this is a pretty nice yard, and I don't even have to mow the lawn!
