Once again, we are lucky to have some good friends around this time of year. We got to celebrate the holiday with some awesome people and some awesome food (thank you!!). Otherwise we were going to do rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes :) Shade also had a ton of fun with other kids his age to play with.
So to get ready for Thanksgiving this year, I decided to try to explain to Shade what it was all about. So we broke the story into different parts and did some crafts and even found a short video on youtube to help understand it better (along with Charlie Brown's version of course).
I asked him today if he remembered anything. This is his version of the story:
"There was a mean king that didn't let them pray. So they got in a big boat and went somewhere else so they could pray. And they were in there for 6 minutes. It was snowing. It was cold. Then the snow melted and the nice indian showed those people to grow food and they had so much food they had a great big dinner and they were so much happy. They had a great big dinner with their family. And that's the end."

That is pretty extensive. But also kind of scary because he's really starting to remember things that you teach him, especially the things you don't try to :)
