Our July 4th was very nice. It was the first day Kellen and I had off together (without one of us sleeping) since April. So we got to spend the whole day together. We went running in the morning (it was very hot, though, so that didn't last very long). Then we had some family chill time and then went to a barbecue with some friends in the afternoon (thanks Dangerfields!). We had also managed to score some free tickets to a Tiger's game. Unfortunately, it started raining for the first time in a couple of weeks (that may be an exaggeration) right before the game started - and it got postponed until after 9:30pm, so we ended up not going (the game was 30 minutes away, and the next morning Kellen had to work and Shade had swimming lessons at 9am). I was irritated at our luck of the weather that day, but it was so nice to be together as a family, it was hard to be in a bad mood. We ended up doing a few fireworks and then watched a short movie together. Shade even noticed how nice it was to have BOTH mommy and daddy home for the day. Interesting how difficult things can make you appreciate the most simple moments :)
Also, if you have some time, check out my friend's blog "Donation of the day." She works at a thrift store in Utah and they get some pretty crazy stuff donated. Very amusing. I included the link in my 'friends' sidebar.
