2 YEARS OLD!!

Olive is finally a toddler!! (She has been in the "terrible twos" stage for quite awhile now.) But she has been picking up so well on talking, singing, physical movements, etc, it has been hard to see her as a baby anyway. We just happened to be in Utah on her birthday. We even got to have breakfast with her Aunt Teresa, who shares the same birthday as her!
That afternoon we got to spend it at Grandpa & Grandma Wilson's house with Aunt Janica and the Afa cousins (Ariana, Gerry, and Anela). Janica made a yummy rainbow sprinkle cake with purple frosting to celebrate. Olive only ate the frosting off her piece, though. We sang to her, but she really didn't know what was going on. It has been 6 months since she had seen a birthday party, so it was kind of a new experience for her. But we held off on having a party-party for her until we got home (that way we didn't have to take presents out with us or have to try to shove a bunch of extra stuff in our luggage).

The Sunday after we got back from Utah, we had a party for Olive. I got out all our leftover gift bags I had been storing (easier and cheaper than wrapping), and put all her presents in them. Her main things: a small fisher-price dollhouse with some Daniel Tiger and friends figurines, and a giant magnetic drawing pad. We also let her open a few presents she had gotten while in Utah (such as for Easter) just to make it more fun. Unfortunately, the pictures we took of that part somehow got erased... But she had a blast!

2 Year Stats:
Weight: 26 lbs = 58.5%
Height: 33 in = 21% (which if the saying is true, she will be 5'6" as an adult...)
Head: 95% (which explains her awesome smartness :))

Some things she does now:
*She is very good at saying "thank you" for almost everything. She is still pretty good at using please and you're welcome. She also says sorry anytime she thinks she has hurt someone, and she will sometimes kiss it better. She will also ask for kisses any time she gets hurt.
*She talks very well for her age, although she still uses gibberish when she tries to describe things :)
*She knows all her letter sounds (difficult to get her to perform when we want her to), but she still says cute versions of words like lellow for yellow and yook for look.
*She still LOVES to dance. Shade introduced her to gonoodle.com from school. Her favorite songs are Pop See Ko and Ice Cream & Guacamole. She will often walk around singing those songs or sing them to her toys :)
*She likes to talk about herself in 3rd person ("It's Olive's toy..." etc.).
*Any time she wants something, she will say, "come on, let's go [insert noun or verb]."
*She is a lot more agreeable nowadays. Most of the time when we try to explain things to her (even things she wants but we won't let her have), she will say "okay" afterward. I don't know that she fully comprehends the situation, but unless she is in a bad mood, that is often all she needs to stop asking for something.
*She LOVES to draw and color. She likes to make scribbles and tell us what she thinks she is drawing (yook, mommy, a circle, a letter a, etc). She has also drawn on more furniture and walls and floors in her short lifetime than Shade has in his entire existence.
*Her favorite show is still Word World. That can calm her down better than most things.
*She loves dancing (especially by stomping her feet) to and trying to sing kid songs, especially animated ones.
*She likes doing puzzles and matching games.
*She still likes binkis. I wanted to wait to wean her off a binki until after we got back from our trip to Utah (she gets ornery from lack of sleep anyway, and I didn't want to have to deal with an especially moody child with the time change and all). Even when we hide them from her, she manages to find one somewhere or steals one from Eli :) Sometimes when we say "hey, that's the baby's binki," she will throw it on the floor and run away...
*She runs pretty fast and likes to dance by stomping her feet.
*She has shown some interest in using the potty, but I started by giving her stickers as a reward for sitting on the toilet and she figured she would just ask to sit on the potty any time she wanted a sticker without actually using it. Little Stinker. We are still figuring that out.
*She has started noticing that certain things look "pretty." She likes to show off her pretty dresses, shoes and hair to her dad. But it does make it easier to get her to let me put on a dress or do her hair...
*She still adores both her brothers! She LOVES playing with Shade (even though he is getting more and more into teasing her). And she loves acknowledging Eli. She will say "oh, he so cute!" and sometimes lay on top of him to give him hugs and cuddles and kisses :)
