July Days

1)Some fun school stuff we have been doing:

-Reading puzzles
-Making up songs on the guitar
-Playing Twinkle Twinkle on the piano - now that he knows his letters, he can follow basic songs

Number game (thanks for the idea Michelle)

Volcanoes - Kellen came home for lunch that day, he had training in Farmington

2)Shade has now learned to ride and steer his tricycle. We went to a bicycle shop and he tried out a bicycle with training wheels and picked it up very fast - it is actually easier for him to ride the bike than the tricycle because he can stretch his legs more fully on the bike and can use the proper muscles better. Tricycles don't really make much sense to learn on now that I've seen him do both.

3)Our church ward does parkdays - a day of the week for the moms and kids to get together and chat/play. We have been able to make it to a couple of them, but one that we both really liked was at one of the Hines parks:

Some of these toys spin / There are small lakes/rivers there too.

This is the road on the way there.

4)July is also the Farmington Founder's Festival. We have gone to the daytime events before, but it is usually people selling overpriced stuff. There is supposed to be fun day events for kids too, but I keep forgetting to look them up beforehand. But some of the things we did make it to:

The Parade - Shade was very excited

Some of Shade's favorite things:

Small motorcycle / Batman car / Storm Trooper

Gorilla carrying a man... / Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman / Big green tractor

There was also an outdoor movie @ Shiawassee Park (Despicable Me) - it was a perfect night - full moon, fireflies, slight breeze. We brought chairs and a blanket and expected Shade to fall asleep, but he stayed up for all of it - he was too excited to be watching a movie outside.

5)My sister-in-law Janica went through the temple this month too!! Wish we could have been there, but we are proud of her and very excited for her, and we wish her the best!

6)And finally, I did get a job. It sounds like it will have some great perks to it. My first two weeks of orientation (M-F 8-5) were kind of a blur, and Shade actually ended up missing both Kellen and I while in daycare a lot this time (this part of working sucks, but soon I will only be working 1-3 days/week). Kellen did have some time off work and was able to spend the second week of my orientation with Shade. But at least I'm getting a paycheck now :P Goodbye student loans!!
