6 MONTHS OLD

Things Olive has been up to these days:

- She can sit up for extended periods of time, which makes bath time a bit more fun.
- She rolls all over the place.
- She "crawls" backward by getting up on her hands and knees, rocking back and forth, then pushing herself back. She often gets stuck backed up to something and gets frustrated, or pushes herself underneath the couch and when she tries to lift herself up she bonks her head. She hasn't quite figured out forward yet.
- She loves to rock - in her bouncy chair, back and forth while sitting up, on her hands and knees trying to crawl, she will even rock her face on the floor or couch or bed when she is lying on her stomach.
- She eats pretty much anything we give her. She loves all baby foods so far, especially the cereals. She eats a lot too. She will eat a whole banana or 1/2 cup of cereal, then top it off with some milk. She has also tried bread, mashed potatoes, scrambles eggs, the insides of grapes, and a few other things I probably shouldn't mention here :)
- No more teeth yet, but she loves to put EVERYTHING in her mouth, she is getting really good at picking things up and shoving them in there. This includes her hands and feet, clothes, and our faces. The other day I sat her down to a pile of clean underwear while I was doing laundry, and she had to taste them all! Needless to say we have to be careful about what is on the floor now.
- She still loves to watch and observe everything. I think this may be one reason it can be difficult to get her to laugh. She is easy-going, however, and is easy to give a smile. But you had better be pretty darn funny if you want a laugh out of her... Shade of course is able to get her to smile and laugh the easiest. I think babies know and enjoy it when a person is not an adult.

Also, I don't quite know how she is doing weight-wise and all since apparently you have to call the very first day of the month the month before you need an appointment at her pediatrician's office or you can't get an appointment for when you need it. So her 6 month appointment will be a week before she turns 7 months. But judging by how much she can eat in one sitting, and how much harder it is to swing her repeatedly above my head, I'd say she is growing just fine.
