Shade got his first karate stripes in his class! The green one was for passing off his blocks and the purple one was for memorizing his Junior Pledge (My Promise):
To obey my parents and teachers.
To always do my best and never give up.
To tell the truth and honor my word.
To always be polite.
To never misuse what I learn in class.
We are very proud of both of those achievements. He started out learning the karate moves kind of awkwardly, but he has definitely been improving each week. And he didn't start working on the memorization thing until 2 days before, and even then he only read through it several times the first day and then memorized only half of it the second day. The rest of it he got down on the drive to class that very night. What a cute ninja!
