4TH OF JULY

This year for the 4th of July, we invited Kellen's sister's family to stay with us. There is a pretty big  "golf cart" parade that goes down our street every year that is supposed to be awesome. So they came to visit. Unfortunately, so did the rain. It rained during the entire parade! I was surprised that people actually chose to carry on the parade in spite of the down pour. There were still some awesome "floats" (decorated golf carts), and they did toss out a lot of fun toys for kids (necklaces, bouncy balls, frisbees, glasses, etc), but they also continued to toss out their candy...which often found its way into gross, muddy puddles. We were able to salvage some of the candy that was tightly wrapped, but most of it that the kids grabbed was wet with water and whatever was in the water, so we ended up throwing it away. Definitely a different experience, though, and still fun!

Other than that, we had some good family games and some delicious barbecue (from Shane's Rib Shack, one of our new favorite places here in Georgia). We didn't bother trying to fight for a spot to see fireworks over/through the trees, but we didn't need to. It was a great day!
