If you ever want to know the best time to go to a usually crowded beach, try morning hours on a cloudy weekday. That's what Shade & I did this Friday and we had the whole beach to ourselves! It was cloudy, sure, but the temperature was perfectly warm, the water was refreshing and comfortable, and the sun was not beating down on our heads. It was also nice not having a bunch of kids stirring up the dirt in the water so we could actually see what we were stepping on at the bottom! Sorry I didn't think to invite anyone to come join us - wasn't planning on staying so long - but it was just too perfect to leave!
This time we spent some time playing in the sand, then Shade found some rocks to throw for awhile, then he found the giant play boat, then he went back in the water and kept splashing a bucket of water all over himself over and over :)
We timed it just right too - as soon as we were done and started driving away, it started raining - a LOT - it seemed like the sky dumped the entire lake on the ground! No wonder why we were the only ones there!
