Salt Lake City

We got up to Salt Lake fine, although we stopped by Taco Time on the way!!! Gotta love those crisp bean burritos!

We got to spend the next day with Lily at Liberty Park - they have 2 real fun water areas to play in. Lily also has a dog named Sam - basically a shnouzer, whom Shade also loved (I only have video of this). Then Teresa had the next day off and we just hung out, played, and watched "Coraline."

The next two days we got to go visit with Kellen's dad and his wife (Grandma & Grandpa #5), 2 of Kellen's sisters and 3 of Shade's cousins - Anela (2), Gerry (5), and Ariana (7). Shade really liked playing with Kellen's dad. By then he was so used to calling all the older people Grandma and Grandpa that he went right to them and warmed up to them pretty fast.

That week my dad also got sealed in the Bountiful temple to his wife of 2 years. They have been through a lot together - with my dad's head injury and Cheryl's bout with cancer. I find it amazing though. Cheryl - who had not before married - willingly took on a family of 9 kids (3 teenage boys still living at home) and 4 grandkids (now almost up to 9). But the sealing was beautiful, especially considering what they have gone through. Congratulations!

We then flew out of Salt Lake back home - also an evening flight in the mindset of Detroit, but afternoon for Utah time, which Shade was now accustomed to. The flight back was a bit more difficult - he didn't sleep much and at one point we hit some turbulance which did a number on Shade's poor ears for about 10 minutes straight. Poor guy. But when we got back, Shade was so excited to see Kellen (as was I)! I loved visiting for sure, but I love being back with my own little family together. I wished Kellen could have been there with us, but he is so awesome to let us go do that for 2 whole weeks! Hopefully next year we can do that together!
