ONE YEAR OLD!

Because of our work schedules, we don't get a lot of time together during the day to do stuff as a family. So Kellen took Olive's birthday off. We started with a healthy breakfast of eggs, fruit and a donut. Then Olive got to open her presents (some were Shade's old toys from when he was a baby - he obviously didn't use them for very long, so why buy a bunch more baby toys that she won't use for very long either?). She didn't quite get the wrapping paper thing, but loved getting to play with toys she hasn't played with before. After that, we had originally planned on going to the zoo, but as luck would have it, that was one of the only days it rained that week. So we went to the Henry Ford Museum instead. It was still fun. Olive loved looking at all the neat things. They had some lego stands set up in the back for the kids, which they loved, as well as a large toy train track with 4 different trains going around it (one with a video camera). Then we tried to go to Olive Garden for dinner... but there was a 20 minute wait at both locations, so we just grabbed a pizza from Costco and watched Monster's University together. And then Olive got her cake - dark blue with pink and blue frosting. She didn't quite get the candle either, and at first was timid about touching the cake. But she eventually got the cake smeared everywhere. It is hard to believe that it has already been a year since we were anticipating her arrival (and the surgery), but we are so happy to have her in our family. She makes us all so happy. We sure do love her!!

Oh, and Happy Birthday Aunt Teresa!!

The Presents

The week before, we cleaned out the fridge, and this is pretty much how they play together...

Also, we finally bought a treadmill! We figure it is an investment in our health. Even Shade likes to use it :) But this is what Shade built with the styrofoam pieces. He was pretty proud.
