Unfortunately, it was pretty cold this morning. The high of the day was barely even over freezing at 33 degrees, so when they started running, it was in the 20's with a wind-chill of 19 F, and it was snowing lightly before the race. But they had dressed appropriately, so they stayed warm enough while they were running.
Kellen had signed up to do both the 10K and the 5K (so he could run with Shade). That way he got 2 medals, so Shade could get one. And they both did really well. Olive and I just waited for them in the crowd of onlookers and tried to stay entertained in the freezing cold.
Kellen got 18th out of 106 in his age group in the 10K. Time-47:19.
Shade was in an age group from 0-14 yrs. old. Everyone who finished before him was older, except for possibly one other 6 yr. old. He finished the 5k in 44:01 just over a month after his 6th birthday. He was very proud that he beat a lot of grown-ups.
After the race, the boys got some chocolate treats.
I am very proud of my boys!
