AMAZING DAD

So my dad is doing a lot better now! (For information about his accident, check out Septmber's posts). He still has a bit to go, but he has made some amazing progress from a month ago. He called me the other day, it was awesome! He says he wants to apply for a job at the Jelly Belly Factory in Wisconsin to taste candy for $70,000 per year (he has some ties through one of his cousins). He says he just needs to get away from the Prison in Ely, and I agree.

I can only account my dad's improving condition to God's blessings and my dad's strong spirit. He has had a lot of prayers and fasts for him and the doctors are surprised at how quickly he is healing. But mostly, he is a strong fighter and knows that his family still needs him. So he should be back to his old charming self in no time :)

CHERYL
I must say that he has an awesome wife (Cheryl). They had been married only 4 months when this happened, and my dad has been in the hospital/care center since (2 months now). She probably had no idea what she was getting herself into when she agreed to marry my dad, but she has been amazingly supportive and takes really good care of him. What a challenge to have in your first few months of marital bliss...

CRISTI
My sister Cristi has been taking care of my 3 younger brothers in Ely, Nevada (12, 14 and 16 years old) when Cheryl is in Salt Lake taking care of my dad, and this in addition to her 3 boys (1, 3, and 7 years old) and husband. She has really stepped up to help out and is doing a great job. It is a good thing she is so organized...I think I would slowly go crazy... :)

KYLE
Oh yeah, and my youngest brother Kyle just turned 12 (October 4th, Shade's birthday) and my dad got the okay to give him the priesthood. My dad's priesthood lineage goes back to Shadrach Roundy (Shade's namesake) who is mentioned in the Doctrine and Covenants (my maiden name is Roundy). Anyway, it is neat that my dad will be able to give that blessing to his youngest son.
