2 WEEKS!!

This last week has been much better. I have been able to get around a lot better, I have been sleeping on my sides and even successfully tried my stomach a couple times. I also had my own doctor appointment 9 days after the birth, got weighed, and had officially lost 30 lbs! I mean, Eli was almost 12 pounds, but the rest of that was mostly water weight! But boy does it feel good to have that extra weight off my joints and back!

As for Eli, he had a second doctor appointment. The doctor wanted to make sure he was gaining weight. And he is! He is already back to his birth weight! My milk supply is finally coming in sufficiently enough. That was so stressful. I actually met with the nurse practitioner (which was awesome, she took a lot more time talking to me, explaining things, etc). She told me that insulin dependent diabetes can affect milk supply. Good to know. But Eli has been eating like crazy this last week. Sometimes as much as every hour. And even though he often falls asleep while eating, then I have to wake him up to finish, he was likely just helping to boost my milk supply. But the eating schedule is getting a bit more regular now, and less often. He still gives me 4-5 hour stretches at night between feedings (possibly because he doesn't sleep much during the day because he is eating so often), but he also still falls asleep a lot. Once we get the staying awake thing figured out, I am excited to start getting out and doing more. Plus, I wanted to make sure I am healed well enough to be able to handle chasing after/carrying/dragging Olive around while still toting Eli :)

Also, Eli has started staying awake for longer periods of time, and becoming more alert. It is fun to see him noticing things, but I can't wait until he actually starts making actual eye contact and reacting. One of my favorite things from newborns!
