Kellen and Shade got to go to the Father and Sons church camp out this year at Lower Huron Metro Park. Shade loved it. It was their first one.
Many of Shade's friends were there, and he had a lot of fun playing with them. The campsite was near the airport directly below the path of the planes as they land on the runway, and Shade really liked seeing the planes up close.
They went canoeing and played in the river. At one point Shade fell into the river and was hanging on to a branch to keep his head above the water. He did a great job holding on tight until Kellen and Kelly Dalton were able to pull the canoe up close enough to fish him out of the water.
There was also a fireside the first night with a guest appearance by Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah, a convert to the LDS church from Ghana. He went to BYU and started playing football his sophomore year, and three years later was drafted as the NFL #5 pick overall by the Detroit Lions. He just moved here to join the team, and went camping with our stake this weekend. After the fireside, there was a tug-o-war between him and all of the young kids. Of course the kids easily won. But what a treat!
